New Line Cinema risked it all by entrusting low-profile New Zealander Peter Jackson with the audacious task of spinning Tolkien’s dense literary fantasy into cinema gold. The result: 17 Oscars, a box-office gross of $3 billion worldwide and the birth of two superstars — one virtual (Gollum) and one pointy-eared (Orlando Bloom).

2Toy Story (1995)

Pixar pioneers Buzz and Woody took the feature-animation genre that Disney created with 1937’sSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs and blasted it into the digital future with a cutting-edge combo of heartfelt wit and computerized wonder. Now, nearly every studio does 3-D cartoons. Just not as well.

A date movie for the AIDS era. A cautionary tale of a woman scorned turned psycho hit home by mixing frank sexuality and nightmarish horror, as Michael Douglas’ fling with Glenn Close endangers his family. The rare popcorn thriller deemed Oscar worthy (six nominations).

7There’s Something About Mary (1998)

The PC police surrendered when those comic barons of bubbling crude, the Farrelly brothers, launched their assault on good taste. The public gladly giggled and gagged along, while Ben Stiller cemented his loser persona and the world was made safe for R-rated movies like American Pie and 40-Year-Old Virgin.

8Philadelphia (1993)

Before that rendezvous on Brokeback Mountain, straight stars Tom Hanks and Antonio Banderas were gay lovers in this groundbreaker about an AIDS-afflicted lawyer who sues over job discrimination. Hard to believe that this was the first major studio movie to deal with the disease.

9Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)

E.T.’s glowing heart? Good. A beating heart ripped from a man’s chest? Not so much. Parents protested the intense violence found in Steven Spielberg’s PG-rated follow-up to 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. In response, the Motion Picture Association of America established the PG-13 rating.

Superman came first in 1978. But director Tim Burton’s neo-gothic caped crusader was a distinctly adult version of a comic-book thriller.Batman’s brooding cool made it safe for a Joker like Jack Nicholson to cavort in a costume caper, and the film’s dark vision has influenced nearly every cinematic superhero since.

You’d think studios would have reconsidered the value of star power. But the bucks didn’t stop there. Tom Hanks is supposed to get $35 million for a Da Vinci Code prequel.

Mel Gibson’s controversial and highly profitable interpretation of the last days of Jesus didn’t just reveal the movie idol’s devotion to religion and bloodletting. It also showed there is a profit to be made from preaching to the faithful, a community that BC (before Christ) was rarely served by Hollywood.

Cartile din seria "The Chronicles of Narnia" au fost scrise in anii '50... cu mult timp inainte de aparitia seriei de carti "The Lord Of The Rings" si mai ales a filmelor cu acelasi nume...
In orice caz, consider ca-i nedrept sa numesti "The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardobe" o imitatie... Tind sa cred ca cartea asta oricum avea sa fie ecranizata chiar daca nu apareau filmele Lord Of The Rings...
 
in ordine cronologica oricum filmul The Lord of the rings a fost primul..el a adus banii intr-un gen literar care parea neinteresant dupa star wars...
zic ca Narnia e o imitatie a lui Lord of the rings pentru ca ecranizarea ambelor romane a pierdut din vedere miezul filozofic al cartilor-prototip (C.s. Lewis a scris o parabola crestina si nu se vede asta in film, dupa cum din lumea miraculoasa a vechiului folclor celtic n-a ramas nimic in ecranizarea lui Tolkien)...

LotR a fost filmul total, filmul fluviu care capteaza intreaga atentie a revistelor de profil, a cinefililor si a amatorilor de film.. a fost filmul care a nascut suspansul, asteptarea... eu zic ca merita sa fie pe primul loc in topul celor mai influente filme din ultimii 25 ani...chit ca nu se numara printre favoritele mele...
 
care suspans, care asteptare???? a fost un fantasy lungit pe vreo 7 ore, ca la un moment dat cred ca nici macar fanii nu mai aveau rabdare....

un film care sa marcheze trebuie sa fie din alta categorie, cel putin dupa parerea mea, trebuie sa aiba mesaj, trebuie sa aiba arta cinematografica si interpretativa, trebuie sa emotioneze si trebuie sa te faca sa te gandesti la el. nu sa te faca sa te gandesti cat naiba mai tine, ca deja ma dor fundul si spatele de la atata stat jos.
 
eu sunt fan al genului fantasy, insa prea mult a fost intins filmul LOTR... pentru o carte e ok, uneori citesc cartzile shi ma rog sa nu se termine, insa cu filmul e altceva...
sunt de acord cu tine, vitalic ca Fight Club merita sa fie inclus in lista...

are suspans, care asteptare???? a fost un fantasy lungit pe vreo 7 ore, ca la un moment dat cred ca nici macar fanii nu mai aveau rabdare....

daca ai fi citi atenta titlul topicului si ai fi mers la sursa clasamentului ai fi observat ca filmele au fost aranjate conform unor criterii putin diferite de perceptiile estetice..s-a sondat si masurat impactul lor atat asupra pietei cinematografice cat si asupra pietei mass-media...in sensul asta, replica asta cu lungirea de 7 ore este putin deplasata...
suspansul despre care vorbesc este starea de tensiune a fanilor, nerabdarea cu care acestia asteapta urmatorul episod din saga...este mai mult un efect de marketing decat unul artistic sau estetic (in alta ordine de idei, acelasi truc a fost exportat si in industria de carte, a se vedea exemplul Harry Potter)... noutatea acestui film a fost ca a captat o mare parte din energia mediatica: filmul a fost cap de afis la ceremoniile de decernare a Oscarurilor, a fost unul din principalele subiecte ale presei de profil.. in industria mondiala de divertisment au existat cativa ani The Lord of The Rings....dar nu putem spune ca au existat anii Bladerunner sau anii The days of being wild...

Topul ăsta e făcut pentru imbecili.
Nici un film cu adevărat bun, doar Matrix şi Pulp Fiction sunt privibile, restul sub orice critică. Nici un film de Fellini, Tarcovschi sau Bertolucci... Care-i sensul să promovezi prostia, Vitalie?
